SMURF
Style: Hardcore Techno / Terror / Speedcore / Oldksool
Smurf - One of the old skool.
Started out attending acid house/warehouse party's in 1989 in England, where
his music tastes drifted away from Hip Hop into acid house --> techno -->
Belgium & European techno/rave then into early Dutch gabber. Got his first
set of decks in 1992 and in 1993 got his first gig playing early hard techno
& gabber.
By late 1994 and into 1995, Smurf was playing guest spots and all the big hardcore clubs in England & Scotland, with a monthly residency at Judgment Day in Newcastle, England and Nosebleed in Scotland.
By the late 90's Smurf had formed an alliance with 2 other Newcastle DJ's and formed the Geordie Gabba Mafia and had records released on DJ Freaks Hard Of Hearing Records (UK), Noizecreators Suburban Trash Industries (Killout Trax 2 & 3), and Strike Records. Due to heavy work & DJ commitments, Smurf's producing has been put on hold but promises to have some amusing hardcore gabber releases in 2004.
Smurf has became a legend in the hardcore gabber scene. Dropping strange pop records & death metal trax into gabber & speedcore sets combined with crazy head banging and dancing antics behind the decks, ensured that no-one would forget a DJ Smurf set at a party !
Word of Smufs legendary DJ sets and antics soon reached around the world and he has played at Operation Nordcore in Germany twice, Cold War 2 in Canada, Together As One NYE 2002 in Los Angeles, Electrophonies in France, Underconstrucion & Hardcore Nation in Italy, Hellgate & Hardcore Will Never Die in Switzerland and also took part in the Industrial Strength European Tour in 2002 in Italy, Switzerland & Austria.
Smurf also co-promotes party's
in the UK in obscure locations such as boats & barns and continue's to bring
the biggest names in the hardcore underground to the UK.
